Bought some litmus paper today to check my Ph level - a few years back I started researching this and found that most people in the modern world are chronically too acidic, which can cause a host of problems. From what I've seen, the body should be between 7.2-7.4 on the Ph scale. I tested mine tonight and found that (likely due to my poor diet, drinking pop, and liquor/beer, my Ph was right around 5.8-6.0. This might be one reason for all of my health issues. I read that this reduces the effectiveness of your immune system, which can allow allergens (including *mold*) to affect you more easily.
I can't do much with my "kitchen" situation being what it is, but I'm going to do my best to stop/minimize my pop intake, as well as beer/liquor. I found this page, and while it doesn't look entirely "official", most of the information seems to match up with others I've found, and this one is much easier to use. I'm going to try to pick 1-2 foods from the "alkaline/very alkaline" lists and start buying them. Once I get the kitchen done, I'm going to start planning meals based on their collective Ph balance (that is, if it's not entirely too much of a P.I.A.). Limiting/eliminating alcohol is definitely going to put a damper on my social life, but I've been talking about not going out anymore unless friends are playing, so this is as good a reason as any, right?
Oh, and for now (until I get my new bed) I'm going to try using an additional pillow to see if it will keep my neck from getting all bent out of shape while I sleep. Hopefully that will help as well.
