Practice went surprisingly well last night, although as always, JRP had "technical issues". He'd brought some new equipment though, in an effort to find a smaller rig setup, and it sounded great! When I got there, they were working on a song that JP wrote last week. Really cool vibe, sounded different than most of their other stuff. Something about that vibe got us going on new stuff, and rather than practicing our setlists, we ended up writing music for two more new songs, for a total of three last night. They still need lyrics, and some solos/riffs to expand them, but it was pretty sweet. I even get to sing background harmony on one of them, and unlike some of the other vocals they want me to do, these notes felt like second-nature to me, partly because they let me modify them to fit my "ear". JP also asked me to help him with some lyrics. As for the base line, they gave me something to start with, but I modified it a bit, and they both liked my version better, so it's in! That made me feel pretty damn good, that my input was valued like that.
Would have been a great night if I hadn't been plagued by my stupid (tension?) headaches all night. 1600mg of Motrin in 4 hrs, and I still couldn't sleep. Woke up several times during the night, but was wary of taking more, so I tried to suffer through, but this morning sucked, and I took four more (200mg each). I'm still trying to track the cause down, but it all keeps coming back to 1) mold exposure, or 2) the bed situation, which I'm still leaning towards. I suppose I could go back to the doctor & see if there's a test they can do for mold exposure (fairybones, any idea if that's possible?), but I think I just need to get back in the basement with my filter mask & goggles & finish cleaning it out as best I can, see if it helps. At very least, it needs to be done anyway. I did find a mattress I like, and a platform bed frame, but the frame is ridiculously pricey for what it is. I'll see if I can find a link for it after I get home. If I go with these two, it'll be around $1000, not including linens/pillows/etc. More than I wanted to spend, but overall, not too bad. It'll be really nice to finally have a new bed!
Oh! And I found an old stereo cabinet I really want for the living room! I wrote to them, but they never replied, so I'm assuming it's gone - still, I think this is the style I'm going to look for. I may decide to dismantle whatever I find and refinish it in a darker tone to better fit the room, but haven't decided yet.
Ok, back to work...
