1st attempt at seasoned sauteed vegetables tonight. I didn't follow a recipe, but looked through several to get an idea of what works. It didn't quite go as planned; 1) could've done with less olive oil. used 2 tbsp, probably only needed 1. 2) overcooked them, by maybe 5 minutes. Fairly mushy, but surprisingly tasty, and moderately sweet!? Contents: 1 red pepper, 1 yellow pepper, 1/2 spanish onion (all cut in strips), 1 small zucchini, 1 small yellow squash (both diced large), 2 cloves smashed garlic. At least now I know a bit more of what I'm doing - next time, only one pepper, and will add carrot slices and maybe some green beans, with a much smaller onion. 1 tbsp olive oil & will cook much less as well.
I also cooked some california pork ribs with am old cinnamon/garlic/black pepper/etc seasoning rub I found online a while back. Four pieces, with the veggies divided up amongst them, will be dinner for this week. Not sure if it will be enough, or if I'll want it every night, but there it is.
On the work front, my boss is seriously making me consider finding a new job. For some reason he refuses to follow the departmental procedures I created/helped create, and every time I try to get him to do so he brushes me off by saying it's not a big deal, or I'm making too much of it. I also can't get him to do the dimensional programming correctly (again, per departmental policy), and he gets mad when I correct him. Over the last year or two, I've just been letting him do what he wants, and then correcting his work if I ever have to work on a program he did previously. This wastes a lot of time, and several times, I've discovered that the data he's sent out was wrong. I really have no recourse though, as he's my boss & can do whatever he wants. If I fight him on it, I could be written up, or even fired for insubordination if he felt like it. I'm sure I could defend myself adequately, but who wants to go through that kind of shit? I've been trying to 'outlast' him, as our department has had several bosses over the last dozen years. Usually, they stick around for 2-3 years then move on to other titles within the company. This boss has been here 3-4 years now though, and I'm getting impatient. He doesn't understand our dimensioning guidelines, nor our 'best practice' methodologies and refuses to learn them. He'll modify other people's programs without making note that he's the one who did (part of our standard procedure). He will leave parts to be measured in the lab without any notation on them (which is required as SOP), and I've been complaining about that for literally the entire time he's been my boss.
I'm just really fed up with having to tolerate it, with no options but to find other work. I like where I work, and I really like what I do, but I'm getting really tired of the slight dread of having to deal with him every day.
