Man I feel good today! Furnace is in and working, a/c works (well, dehumidifying works); I need to put some kind of door across the upstairs stairway, so i don't lose heat out the roof. The only issue, which is a minor one, is that I have to say you get what you pay for. I'm ok with the little issues I'm finding, because they're easily worth $4-5k savings. This guy is really a pretty poor business man, though - he didn't clean up much of anything other than big stuff. For example, there's still sawdust in my living room where he cut the floor vents in; drywall dust on the wall, and on the shelf in the spare room; he left a coffee cup & a soda cup on my work bench downstairs, along with tons of nails all over. I mean, nails on the work bench in the basement, a couplefew nails on the floors in the living room & the spare room; left-over pvc pipe from the furnace venting; extra natural gas line from the section he removed; left a cardboard box outside, leaning on the front of my house. I had bought some wire for installing my dryer a while back (cost me over $100), and I think he actually used it to wire up the furnace! Also, with all of the floor vents he installed, he cut the holes too small & just shoved the vents in, bending the ends of the parts that rotate, so I can't adjust them. I've got to go back through and relieve the openings, then bend the pieces back in place. He also didn't isolate the furnace from the duct work, so the first night I used it, it woke me up several times, because it's installed directly below my bedroom, and it shook the floor every time it came on. I had to disconnect the first set of hangers on the supply side, and it seems to have worked, at least this morning. I need to check and see if it's still ok without those hangers though... And actually, yes there is more, but I'm tired of writing about it now!
Anyway, having this situation resolved finally has allowed me the mental ease to start working out again too. I ordered an old "classic" dvd, Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Pumping Iron", a docu-drama about the "golden age" of body building. I've been wanting to buy it for years, but never got around to it. I don't know why, but movies like this, or even watching "World's Strongest Man" competitions and such, get me pumped about working out again, so I picked it up. Watched the movie & all the outtakes & new footage last night, then headed down the basement to lift (this was the third time this week, but the first two don't really count, as they were just beginner's 'warmups'). Rather than going by a set workout scheme, I just made a list of everything by body group, then did whatever I felt like. It was fun! I think I'm going to just wing it for a while, rather than planning & writing everything down.
Well, I'm getting hungry (haven't had breakfast yet) so I'm gonna go. Just wanted to get this down before I forgot. It's nice to have something positive to write for a change!
