Went to band practice last night - haven't played with the guys in maybe 6 weeks, but we did surprisingly well. We even got to jam a funky 70's kind of groove for about 5-10 minutes. I'm hoping the drummer will send me a copy of that section (edited into some form of coherency). He's got editing/recording software he said he would give me, because I want to be able to record my own shit at home, like for this new song I'm working on. It's such a PIA to have to get my gear together & head to his place, just to lay down a track or two. I've decided to start learning some scales on the guitar too, as the little bit of "lead" I've been trying to figure out for the new piece really seemed to help my bass imrpov last night. Oh! And I had a thought today, that if I can get this song finished (aside from the guitar solo stuff) I think I'm going to ask my buddy (kick-ass lead guitar player for one of my fave local bands) to improv something for it. It might not be his style so he may not, but it can't hurt to ask, right?
So, does anyone know anybody in HVAC (heating - a/c)? I'm trying to get some info on calculating duct sizes & cross-sectional areas for the plenum & trunk lines for the new furnace - a/c unit I want to install. I'm comfortable with installing the units themselves I think, but I don't want to mis-size (is that a word?) the runners/ducts, as I'll either get too much noise, or I could make it too big for proper air velocity. The more I talk to people, the more I think I might have to do this job myself. Fortunately, I still have a week+ of vacation time left, so I could take that time & get it done. I think I'm going to look into finding a mold-encapsulating paint, and then finish cleaning/painting the basement rafters first (if I have time - it's getting cold here!).
I can't wait until I have all my necessities done on this place. I've really been wanting to travel again, like maybe going to Germany. If I do, I was thinking of traveling to Britain as well. I've never been there, and it's one of the places I want to get to before I'm gone. Yeah, I think that'll be my next trip out of the country. I'll have to hit up my German bud to see if I can crash with him for a week or two - it'll be cool to get back to that area, see how things have changed since I was last there!
Went to pick up my tractor tire today, but they didn't have any in the size I needed, so I'm going to have to go/call back next week. I'm disappointed, because I was looking forward to messing around with it this weekend. Guess I'll have to settle for starting my lifting routine again...
As I was writing this, I remembered that I hadn't called the guy back about selling my little cycle, so I just did, and made a counter-offer. I was asking $800 for it, and he offered me $600 about a week ago. I thought it over, and $600 seemed a little low for a bike with such low mileage, that actually runs down the road and is fully functional (if maybe a bit ugly and in need of some minor work), so I countered with $700. He told me he'd call tonight & if it was cool, he wanted to come by & take a look at it again. I'm guessing he's going to try to get me down to $650, and if I have to, I'll take it, but nothing less. That'll be enough for me to finally replace my laptop if I want! Of course, it could also buy me a used motor for the other cycle, so I could finally get that back on the road again too. It could also buy a motor for the old car I have, or maybe living room furniture, or a bunch of other shit I need. Ugh... I can't prioritize for shit!! >.<
Oh, and finally, I really dug reading fairybones' journal entry chronicling her "day in a life". I might just do that as well, if I ever have a day worth writing about. Maybe I'll write about my next cycle road trip!?
