I've been struggling with several things recently, the biggest of which are the side effects of TRT, and a lingering back injury.
The side effects are beginning to fade a bit (insomnia, high resting heart rate/low HRV), but I'm attributing that to the fact that I haven't been able to work out for almost 6 weeks now. Once I start up again (hopefully Monday?) I'll have a better idea of my body's response to the physical stress. 1st couple weeks will be really low-stress, lightweight workouts, just to try to ease my way back into it. I'm also going to start incorporating lower-effort rowing and walking into my weekly routine (as I feel up to it), and eventually might start running again as well? I'm currently waiting on final results from bloodwork I'm having done. This one was drawn at 8 weeks into treatment - the next will be at 4 months, the next 6 months after that, and if everything has stabilized by then, I'll only have to have it checked once per year. I'm curious to see how everything turns out.
As for the back injury, if I recall correctly, it first started the 2nd week in October. I tweaked something in my lower back, so I skipped all lower body workouts for a while. A couple weeks later, I tried some raised deadlifts up to a weight that was well within my capabilities, but when i hit 275#, there was a big 'pop/thunk' in my right hip. I could tell at the time that the 'pop/thunk' was actually a good thing, because it felt like my hip moved back into its proper position. The issue was that the jerking motion of that 'pop/thunk' led to a major issue in my mid-thoracic area, resulting in my having to go to urgent care again a couple days later, as I starting having that same nerve issue as before that caused me to struggle with breathing, standing, sitting, or lying down. I ended up with another prescriptiuon for muscle relaxers, and got a big shot of some prescription-strength nsaid (which honestly did absolutely nothing for the pain). I spent the next 7-8 days trying to recover, and popping tons of acetaminophen/ibuprofen during that time (alternating 1000mg acetaminophen and 800mg ibuprofen every 3 hrs). That took a toll on my liver, and it showed up in someo of my recent blood work.
I'll have to finish this in another entry, as it feels like this is getting way too long for anyone to bother reading (not that anyone still does).
