It got up to 72°F yesterday, so I took the cycle out. While riding, I got the urge to go ahead and test out my 'beer' theory to see if it affected me like the gin did, so I ended up stopping at a couple breweries. Actually, I stopped at several, but didn't realize until the 3rd one that it was a holiday weekend, which was why they were all closed! Ended up an hour out of town, and then worked my way back home. Ended up having two beers @ two places over the course of 3 hours on the road, which should have been plenty of time to clear it from my system (if it was an alcohol-related issue).
By the time I got home, I was feeling ok; not buzzed, and not having any kind of negative reaction. Got a text from Jen (I'd texted her before I left) saying she was free if I wanted to stop by so I did, and she ended up offering me a beer (3rd of the night). By the time I got home, it had started to cool off & the sun was going down so I had to get my jacket out. I mention this because I found my body was really cold when I got inside - 96.6° when I usually run 98 or so. I got online for about an hour, but never really warmed up. Went to bed but realized I was too cold to sleep so I tried to take a hot shower, but my water heater is old and wouldn't get hotter than 90-100° (thermostat issue), which was worthless. Took a couple of sleeping pills & went back to bed.
Terrible night's sleep, even my bio tracker said it was awful. I'd been congested again all night, and only got about 6 hrs of sleep in total. so, at least now I've proven to myself that my body can't tolerate alcohol in its current condition. This does make me wonder, though, if I may have some kind of an allergy, or maybe an issue with my liver? Three beers over 4-5 hrs seems like it shouldn't affect someone that much, doesn't it?
Anyway, on a different topic, I got a call from WJC tonight, telling me that one of our interns has tested positive for covid. She was last at work on Thursday, but didn't feel symptoms until the weekend, which is when she got tested. She'd also gotten her 1st vaccine shot on Thursday,, which likely has nothing to do with it, unless maybe that's where she caught it? Anyway, we let the other intern know that he needs to get tested before he can return to work (with a negative test) or quarantine at home for 14 days (if positive). WJC and I have had our 1st vaccines for days now (almost 3 weeks for me) and we're both fairly obsessive about social-distancing/masking even in our office, so we likely won't have to get tested unless we start showing symptoms. I get my next shot on the 8th, so I wonder how I'll react to that? Regardless, I've pretty confident I'm safe, but I guess time will tell.
