Had my new seat installed this morning - it's heated, for both rider and passenger. Rode out to the out-of-town coffee shop afterwards & had a chance to use it (and the heated grips I had installed) as it was only 55°F or so. Normally, that's much too cold for me to go long distances, but I wanted to give these a fair trial. They worked well, made for a more enjoyable ride, but I'd dressed for temps in the 60's, not realizing it wasn't going to warm up any more today, so I still ended up chilled.
Am heading out in a bit to check out a mid-century floor arc lamp. It's being offered by the lady I got my couch from, and at a reasonable price. I think it's one of the last pieces I'll really need. Going to ride the cycle over (so I can put more miles on it!) and if I buy it, will take the truck back over to pick it up.
The new cycle has had a few minor issues so far, but overall, I'm really happy with it & can't wait until it's really broken in & I can ride like I normally do. Not that I ride much differently, but I'm not supposed to take it on the highway yet, nor take the engine rpms over 50%. I'll also need to get past two more service checkpoints before I can take a longer out-of-state trip - current service intervals are at: 500mi, 1000, 2500, and 5000. After that, I can go 5000 miles between servicing. If I want to visit my cousin in OR, I'd have to arrange for it to be serviced out there & I'm hesitant to do so, because 1) I don't really want anyone other than my shop working on my bike, and 2) I prepaid for 3 years of service at this shop, but if I take it somewhere else, I'll have to pay out-of-pocket.
So it looks like a long cycle trip to the west coast might be unrealistic by next summer (unless I take a lot of long weekend trips); may have to wait for 2021? :-(
