It's surprising just how much difference a change in perception can make in my mood. I woke up feeling good, positive, even a bit motivated. I've know for a while now that, as an empath, I'm very sensitive to other people's moods, and am easily affected by them, but I didn't realize just how strongly my own moods affect my motivation to do, well, anything. I find it interesting that I can still learn new things about myself, even with all of the introspection I've done.
Anyway, I left the house this morning with the intent of buying a new handle for my splitting maul, as I broke the previous one with a misplaced swing. While there, I also looked around for a sink faucet filter, which I've been meaning to get for a while, as my water has quite a strong mineral taste to it. I didn't find one at that store, but I did find a dual-flush toilet repair kit. Mine has been giving me trouble for a while, and I was just going to buy a whole new unit, but this kit was only $25, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Went to another store for my water filter, and remembered I also wanted a sink dish rack so I'd have a place to let my dishes dry that wasn't the countertop. While looking for that, found a silicone sink tray I'd also been wanting. Started to walk out & remembered that my pots/pans were wearing out (teflon starting to peel off), and I was in the same place I bought those, so I went to see if they had any sales going on. They did, so I picked up a set of ceramic-coated pots/pans too. (Having cooked lunch with one of them this afternoon, I have to say I really like these!)
Got home, installed the faucet filter & made some coffee (big taste improvement, btw!), then decided to replace the float valve assembly in the toilet. That took a while, as the previous owner had used silicone caulk around the sealing area, which had to be cleaned off because it was leaking after I installed the new unit. With the leak fixed, I worked on adjusting the low/high flush levels - it's actually a pretty cool system, and I'm happy with it. It's also good to finally have it fixed.
While I was in there, I remembered I'd bought new seals for the bathroom sink faucet that had been leaking, but I never got around to fixing it, so that was my next project. Took a half-hour or so, as I'd never had one apart before, but it was pretty straight-forward, and now that doesn't leak anymore, which also feels pretty good.
I've got a few more projects to do this weekend, but even if I do nothing more, I feel pretty accomplished. This is more progress than I've made in several months, or at least it feels that way.
