So far this week, I've fit in 2 runs & two weightlifting sessions. I was revisiting the concept of the 'Depth Year' today & realized that I'm technically 2 for 2, so far; January, I set a goal to incorporate the WHM into my daily routing. I started the cold showers on Jan 5th. Even though I didn't manage to complete the 20-day challenge, I did start the breathing method on Jan 10th, and I've done it at least once a day ever since, so I'm calling that a win!
For February I decided to start IF (Intermittent Fasting). I technically started that on Jan 28th, but I made it all the way through February without changing my routine significantly. I did have to tweak it here & there until it fit my schedule, but it's working out pretty well right now. So, that's a success for February! Both of these, by the way, I intend to continue with indefinitely, which is why the goal was to establish the routine, and not just 'make it through the month'.
I've decided that for March, I'm going to aim for some form of exercise a minimum of 5 days per week. Currently, that will be T-W-F running, and M-Th weight training. If I feel up to it eventually, I may have some fun with the strongman-style events on an occasional Saturday, too. I'll be taking it pretty mellow with both, because I have a tendency to push myself too much once I get into things. I'm going to try to stick with this pattern for the next three months, increasing things when I need to, but again, not pushing so much that I burn out. If I run tomorrow, that will be five 'workouts' this week, which is a good start to the month.
Now I need to decide what I'm going to do for April. I really need to refinish the floors in the ex-bedroom so I can start using that room again. I want to put all of my musical items in there, including my recording equipment. Or maybe I'll do the music in here where there's carpeting (less of an echo for recording) and move the tv/futon/etc into the ex-bedroom? Anyway, that might be April's goal. If not, I might work on a couple of 'open-mic' style playlists for my guitar & practice them a certain number of times every week for the month. I don't know, I'm sure there are other things that I haven't thought of as well, so I guess I can ponder this more in a few weeks.
After my run tonight, and after getting something to eat, I took the motorcycle out for a ride. It was fairly warm - 38°F, so I didn't expect it to feel so cold! Of course, normally when I go out, I stop off several places, which gives my body time to warm up between rides. This time, I somehow managed to hit almost every green light, which meant minimal stopping, which means, wind-chill making my fingers & the tops of my thighs cold. I think I only made it about 10 miles overall, bit still, I got my ride in for March, so the streak is still going!
