Second day of weight training this week, taking it easy, and I'm feeling a bit better. Upper back issues are beginning to resolve (with a lot of soft tissue/trigger-point work with a tennis ball every day). At least my headache's gone away. It was cold in the garage tonight though - 20°F (it was 11°F on the drive home after work today). Even with thick wool socks, my toes were practically numb from standing on the concrete. Surprisingly, I still seem to be doing alright keeping warm, and I really believe it has to do with the breathing method. I'm hoping to get another cold shower in tonight; 30 seconds, and if I can, longer.
We got a lot of snow again, although this time, only 4-5" or so. Shoveling shouldn't be too hard tomorrow, unless I overdid it with the weights tonight; I guess I'll find out then. Will really have to take it easy, with as cold as it's been. Of course, I may just get lazy & leave it; my truck is full-time 4WD and has plenty of ground clearance, so I rarely *need* to clear snow. I'll have to find out what the forecast is for the next week.
Not sure how it's going to go, but I'm going to try switching to 16/8 intermittent fasting, which is basically, you can only eat during an 8-hr window of your choosing, and can have no calories outside of that time frame. They recommend drinking lemon water, teas, unsweetened/unflavored coffee, etc. outside of your window; I've bought some tea for mornings at work, and will be reducing my coffee intake by 8oz/day, and since I'll only be drinking coffee in a 2 hr window now (11am, and 1-2pm), I'm going to stop buying the craptastic store-bought grounds & start taking the good stuff I've been buying from my friends (did I mention my hairdresser & her husband opened their own coffee shop & roast their own beans?) - it's literally the best coffee I've ever had, and it's put me right off the store-bought options.
Anyway, this 'IF' diet, if I can follow it, will make life a bit easier, and healthier, (and cheaper?) because I'll only have to make breakfasts to take in to work. Eggs, some kind of breakfast sausage/meat, and oats (with protein powder). All of the 'lunches' I've been making will serve as my dinners, and I'll be having a protein shake (with milk) after my workout/run. I need to find some way to start including more veggies too. I remember having some kind of vinegar & sugar-based, cold, 'salad-like' things before that I really liked, but i don't remember much about it. My ma used to slice cucumbers, mix in some diced onions, and then soak it overnight in a 50/50 mix (approximately) of red wine vinegar & sugar. It's been one of my favorites since I was a kid, and I'd like to make something like that, but with more/different veggies in it. If anyone has a suggestion (or any other veggie dishes (that are easy to make & don't take a ton of weird ingredients!) please shoot the recipes my way!
