So, a little test for me tonight. I haven't had a drink since the 7th (Oooh, impressive! *rollseyes*), nor have I been out anywhere. I'd decided that I wasn't going to go out for a while, like maybe a month or two, but got a text from an artist-gal I know from the Well. Basic catch-up stuff, then suggesting I come out (tonight) as it's her b-day. Told her I wasn't planning on going out for a while, but since it's her b-day, I'd make an exception. Her reply was (I imagine) either alcohol- or pot-induced, or maybe she was just excited for her b-day, but she said "can't wait to see you".
ok, 1) I'm going tonight (in about an hour), but I'm not drinking. I probably won't hang out too long, because I'm an awkward schmuck when sober (although, I'm an alternatively awkward schmuck when drinking, so I guess there's not much difference), and I know I'm going to end up being totally self-conscious & uncomfortable.
2) I know there's nothing behind it, but why say "can't wait"? Why not "see you then", or "look forward to seeing you", or something? "Can't wait to see you" makes it sound like I'm some kind of 'important' or like I've been missed, and I know that's not the case. Meh, it's probably just a turn-of-phrase - that's how I'm going to treat it anyway. Still, it just seems to me like a strange way to put it.
P.S. I found some pics of me from many years ago (many... I'm ancient), and while I've never been 'thin/fit', I can't believe how thin my face looked. I've really got a fat face (let's just leave the rest of my fat out of it...), and so I've placed them where I can see them every day to remind me that I need to get in shape. Wonder how long that'll last?
