I got a kick out of dangerspouse's recent post about phones, because I'm practically the same way when it comes to tech. Below are the three most recent phones I've owned, and I don't think I ever paid more than $50 for any of them.
The 1st is still my all-time favorite, and I still have it. I charge it up occasionally because it has this really sweet golf game on it! The only reason I stopped using it is because I switched from a service that used Sim cards, to one that only used CDMA, and the phone wasn't compatible.
2nd one is a slightly newer, slightly bigger one than the 1st, but it was CDMA so I was cool with it.I could text, call, & take pics, everything I needed. Never had a data plan, so Inever bothered with (nor cared about) going online.
Current phone was given to me by a coworker who was upgrading. It's not a flip- but a slide-phone w/a full keyboard (which I never, ever use!). It can go online, and I've done it a few times, but once I realized that you can't really put any firewall or antivirus software on it, I quit. Still can call, text, and take pics, but It also could send picture messages.
I say could, because it no longer does, and I'm now considering either buying a new (used) phone for reliability, or maybe I'll just get the Razr back out. Only reason I haven't so far is because the Razr has a dead pixel or two in the camera, and it annoys the hell out of me. Truthfully, I use it more as a watch/appointment handler than a phone, but contrary to DS's opinion, I do think it's important to have in case I need to call a wrecker, or I've dumped the cycle & need to call my own ambulance.
Btw, if anyone has a newer CDMA phone that'll work on Verizon's network lying around, feel free to send it this way!
