Called to politely complain to the manager about the engine. He said he'd call me back after talking with the builder-guy. He called maybe an hour later, said he'd "lit a fire" under the guy to get it done, then we discussed the situation. Long story short, the manager was appreciative of my approach to the subject (patient, polite, etc), he apologized for it taking so long, and said they'd discount a bunch of parts for the loss of time. I then explained my concerns about the warranty expiring before I could even get the engine installed, and he said he had no problem with extending it until I could get it running.
Overall, turned out pretty well (as long as it goes to plan). I should be getting a call this coming Tuesday (Wed at the latest) telling me it's done. I'm hoping that one of the next two Saturdays I can go down to pay for it/pick it up (WJC's still going to drive it up). I still need to get a hoist, and I'll have to clear out a spot in the garage if it gets too cold to install it.
Really fucking hope this is the end of this situation, finally.
(More to write, but I'm still trying to avoid the negative stuff, so I'll wait for a bit. Maybe I won't need to post about it if I wait...)
