Don't think I mentioned it, but I hung out with Viv a couplefew weeks back,(just went back & looked - I did mention it, but oh well, you get to read it again!) for a buddy's acoustic-guitar fundraising event, out in their hometown. Was good to see her & talk again, but a little awkward for me, as her kid is around 8 mos old, and I'm not comfortable around young kids like that. Still, wasn't too bad. We've been texting a bit more since then, which is nice for me, as I don't get much of that kind of interaction (well, ok, *any* interaction) around here. Her b-day is this weekend, and she's trying to get a babysitter so she can come out for it. I'm not sure who all will be there, but I know it's her & her b/f, and I think one or two of their friends. She's invited me to join them, and I might for a bit, but probably not for long. I think we're all going to see the "fundraiser" guy & my buddy MB play at the Dog, so it should be an ok time. I'm also hoping that hanging out with a crowd might make it easier to meet someone, which is part of the reason I'm going, too. Viv helped me come up with a new dating profile username, so I think I'm going to try that out again. There are maybe 6-8 women I've noticed recently to whom I'd like to send a message; maybe I'll get the nerve up to do it, too!?
On the exercise front, I'm still running 5-6 days/week, and am now up to 1.2 miles. Still slow, but I'm really going more for distance/duration than a quick time. Walking would probably be better for burning calories, but I get too bored doing that. I like to run, and I'm hoping I'll get good enough, soon enough, that I don't feel like such a fucking out-of-shape lard-ass bout it (whether I am one or not, that's how it feels right now). I'm also still lifting 5 nights/week, and gaining some strength back as well. I'm not where I was several months ago, but I can see getting there in a couple months. I texted SC last week about coming back out to strongman training & he said they'd love to have me, and that the guys were asking about me, so that makes me feel pretty good. When I get back out there, I'm going to put together a "training goals" list for that competition I thought I might have a chance at, last year. If I can have some set goals, it might make things easier.
I haven't done shit around the house yet. I have a bunch of projects that need finishing, but I just can't bring myself to start them. It's frustrating, but I need to get at least some of them done.
Tomorrow's going to be a busy day; visiting with GRJ tomorrow from 11-2p or so. We're going thrift shopping, which I really dig. Love finding cool old retro shit, cheap! Not sure what else we'll do, but that'll be enough. Haven't really had much chance to hang out with her, so I'm looking forward to it. After that, my bio-cuz is having an x-mas party at his place, and invited me to stop by. I told him I would for a bit, but I don't like holiday parties, so I'm not sure how long I'll stay. Also, they tend to drink a lot, and start early, so I'm probably not going to be on the "same page" as them when I go. After that, it's the show @ the Dog, when Viv's supposed to come out & hang for her b-day. I also committed to going to my ma's on Sunday, as my sis & b-i-l are coming to town with my nieces for my g'mas b-day, and since I don't like x-mas stuff with my fam, I thought this might be a good opportunity to visit without the holiday stuff interfering. I really hope I can get through that without getting too stressed out. I'm not looking forward to Sunday, but I can't avoid them forever (at least, not without a ton of guilt weighing me down).
Oh yeah! When I came back from Germany last year, I brought a bunch of cds back from my friends' band. I gave away a few of them, and today, I took the rest of them to the local record store to see if they'd try to sell them for me. Told them I didn't really even want any money for them, just wanted the guys' music to get out there, see if anyone dug it. I didn't know it, but they do consignments, so the guy's going to put them out at $4 each, and if they sell them, he said he'd give me the share I was due. I told him that's be great, and that I'd send the money back to the guys in Germany, and that they'd be excited to know their stuff sold over here (if it does, that is). Their band is called "Die Roten Rueben" (which translates literally to "The Red Carrots"!? No idea why they called themselves that, but...). Here is a like to a playlist of their music - feel free to check it out & tell me what you think! (Fair warning, the lyrics are all in German. I'm curious to see if anyone actually likes the music though!)
