Tried to go out tonight for a buddy's b-day (he's the lead signer for the punk rock band I sometimes talk about). I made it out, and met the six of them, singer/his girl, bass player/his girl, long-time friend of theirs/his girl. We stood at the bar for maybe 15 minutes, when a table opened up and the friend went to grab it. I glanced over & noticed that it was a 6-seater, right next to a main aisle, no room for an extra chair, and since it was ridiculously busy tonight, I decided to just let the 6 of them sit & talk, as I'm kind of an outsider anyway. They did, and I kept glancing around to see if there might be a chance for me to squeeze into the area, but no such luck, so I just finished my beer & left. I texted MM(Singer) when I left, explaining that it was just too busy for me & I'd catch up with him later. He texted back, all was good, so I'm not concerned I might have offended or anything. Hey, I tried, right? Still, I'm a little disappointed in myself for not being able to get over my initial awkwardness phase and stick around for a bit...
Tonight somewhat reminded my of why I dislike this holiday season - 1) too many people/huge, inconsiderate crowds, 2) my lack of having "a place to be", outside of the family (ok, my mother) I don't really want to see. It would be nice to have friends with whom I could spent a bit of time, rather than feeling confined to either my home, or a restaurant/pub/bar (which won't be available on x-mas).
Still, I'm feeling decent, and I got in a little more flirting today; even got some friendly greetings from a couple of cute girls working at the home improvement store when we passed each other. Guess that means whatever it is that's changed (no beard, better posture from the workouts, better mood in general), it's still working.
