Bad things come in threes, right?
A few days ago, I thought I'd gotten a computer virus, because my machine was acting really weird. After ruinning several scans to no avail, I discovered that this old, used, auction laptop has started to die. Internal wifi card, sound card, and all the USB ports are shot. Fortunately, the hard-wired ethernet connection still works, so I can still get online. I need to do some research on new machines so I can buy one in the next few days.
A couple nights ago, I discovered a small leak in one of the pressure-side cold water pipes in the basement. Went to put a load of clothes in the dryer & discovered that there was water all over the top of it. An old galvanized pipe fitting has rusted, and letting go a drop once every 5 seconds or so. For now, I've put a pan under it, but tomorrow night, I'm going to have to find a way to disassemble it without breaking/fucking up the other several galvanized connections nearby. One of the other problems is that this is in the main water supply lines - there's no way to shut off the water to this section without shutting off the whole house, so if I can't repair it right away once I start, I won't have any water in the house. If I can at least disconnect & plug it I'll have water, just wont be able to do any laundry. Hope I can do this without fucking it up. AS long as I'm at it, I might just work on installing the stupid water softener I bought a year or so ago.
So... anyone care to venture a guess as to what's going to be the next thing to be a problem?
