So Stepfie says that I neglected to tell you all about why I "quit" the band, so I guess I'll do that now.
Ever since I started playing with the band, the guitarist has had "technical issues" with his gear. I mean, at minimum, 80% of practices, and even the first couple shows we played. I was as patient as I could be, while trying to gently nudge him towards getting his shit together or reducing his rig.
After sending the email I posted in here a while back, I didn't hear anything for a week, but in the meantime, the guitarist was asking me if I could play another two shows he was arranging. I didn't reply, because I knew he'd go off on me if I told him no (that's why I wrote his brother - he seems to be able to approach the topic better). After a few texts from the guitarist, (and not having heard back) I finally went back & looked for another email address for the drummer, found one and re-sent the message. A day after that, since the guitarist was still bugging me about whether I could play, I told him no, and that he should talk to his brother if he had questions. Well, he got pissed off & started "text-yelling" at me about how unprofessional I was, how hard he worked to get these shows (whatever) and that if I didn't play them, he had nothing to ever say to me again.
I sent him an email (rather than texts, because I had a lot to say) and told him everything, including the conversations I had with his brother on the topic. He again accused me of being unprofessional, and told me (as he does each and every time) that he "doesn't have any gear issues." He "had one, but it's fixed now and it's fine!", etc. It's the same shit he says every single fucking time, and I'm sick of him. I told him that if he was going to be so petty that he had nothing to say to me again, that he wasn't welcome to talk to me again, and that he should lose my phone number too. He had to have the last word, and sent another text, again blaming me, calling me unprofessional, and saying he would never speak to me again after that.
I took a piece of equipment back to the drummer the next weekend, we talked, and are still on good terms. He understands my situation, and agrees with me, but doesn't know if he can change the guitarists mind. I told the drummer I was still willing to play again if things changed, so who knows.
On a different note (but still music-related) I finally got a set list from Huey for me to practice, so if I can get some of the songs down, I might be able to play with him on occasion.
