Thanks for all the input - as I mentioned, most sites require a birth date, and they aren't able to be hidden (probably to foster honest communication, which is a good thing!). Also, I do typically post the outrageous age in online profiles, but I can promise, completely guarantee, that there are absolutely no women specifically looking for a 900 yr old man!! ~.^ If I want to show up in searches, I need to post an age that's within the range of the women in which I'm interested. I like the idea of putting my age right in the middle - since I'm pretty much looking between 25-40 or so, I figure I can use 32. I've been involved with women ranging in age from 19 to 52, (I think 52, we never really discussed it, but it sort of came up inadvertantly in conversation), the older one when I was much younger, and the younger one more recently.
Anyway, I've been trying to think of ways to explain it, to put it right up front... one of the sites I'm thinking about has a section titled "most private thing I'm willing to admit", and I thought that might be a good place to put this. So, maybe something like this? (and this is quite open to suggestions from yous)
Practically nobody (outside of my immediate family) knows how old I am. It's become a game of sorts now, and they're constantly trying to trick me into giving it away - it's a lot of fun! That being said, I have to admit that I'm not 32, although you can probably tell from my pics that it's not too far off! (and if you happen to know me, *SHhhhh* don't say anything, it's a secret!!) ~.^
Think that sounds ok? I'm going to put something about my thoughts on age not being important at all, etc. and that will show up before the above, on the profile. Actually, I think I'll post what I have so far, for a self-description. It's basically a summation, so it's open to suggestions as well, if you'd care to offer opinions. (This bit would go right up front, first thing they read.)
I'm financially stable and own my own home. I have a chubby black cat who's 14yrs old and thinks he's still a kitten. I ride a motorcycle, spring, summer, fall, and winter (although obviously not every day!), but I cant stand the biker club mentality. I'm a closet weekend goth, and occasionally like to hit the club (bonus points if you know what LCC is!). I'm just getting back into running and weightlifting, after having been away from it for a while, and ran my first 5k a couple months ago. I have no interest in having kids. I plan on traveling quite a bit in the future and raising a family doesn't fit in with my goals. I'm looking for a long-term relationship, and I think the best way to find a great long-term match is through dating, not jumping right into something exclusive. I honestly dont care how old you are, if we get along great, have similar goals, and theres a strong mutual attraction. I'm not a jealous guy. I think innocent flirting is natural and fun for everyone involved! I'm very easy going, but that doesn't mean I'm a pushover. I firmly stand for what I believe. I'm very open-minded. I think that holding the door for someone is a courtesy, not an obligation. I think open, honest communication is a must; I also think that being honest doesnt give you a license to be an ass. I think "me" time is a basic necessity for everyone. I think theoretical and quantum physics are fascinating, even though I can't follow all the math. I feel the same way about eastern philosophy, acupuncture/pressure, chakras, etc.
So, what do you think? Anything to add? Something to drop?
