Have been sick all week. Started feeling something coming on last Saturday evening, thought it might just be cold. By Sunday night, I figured it was just an upper respiratory infection. Tried going to work Monday morning, but only stayed two hours, as I really started feeling poorly. Sent an email to my boss telling him so before I left, and saying I'd let him know how I was the next day. Tuesday came, still felt like shit, stayed home. Wednesday, started feeling a bit worse, which is unusual, as nothing usually hangs on that long.
Thursday, though? Called my boss early to let him know I wouldn't be in - I wanted him to hear that I actually was sick so he didn't think I was taking time off for nothing. He agreed I should take the rest of the week off, so no worries there. Mid-morning, the chills started, and by 1p, I had to lie down in bed. Fever jumped up from where it had been (low 100°F) to over 103.3°F by mid-afternoon, for about two hours straight. By 3:30p, fever started dropping but never really broke. I should mention that that high temp happened while I was taking both ibuprofen and acetaminophen, alternating every 3 hrs, so I'm a bit surprised that my fever still got that high. (Even as a kid, my fevers have always run high - I don't usually worry unless I get over 104F.)
I figured that after hitting that high temp things would get better, but here it is, Saturday night, and while I'm no longer running a fever, I still have sinus pressure/pain, and a terrible headache. (Temp on Friday morning was 97.9°F, which is normal for me). At least the meds are finally helping though, but I can't remember the last time I've been sick for more than a week straight? I'm hoping I start feeling better tomorrow, but regardless, I'm going to have to go back to work on Monday. I'm also hoping that I'll be able to work out Monday before work, as I'm now a week(ish) behind, and really don't want to have to start over (even though I might). I don't understand why it is that even now, whenever I try to stick to a workout plan, something always happens to derail my goals/intent?
Also, I had scheduled my next round of blood work for Feb 14th, but had to push it out due to the illness. I'd rescheduled it for the 21st, but as I'm still recovering, I'll need to push it out another week. One of the clinic's concerns last time was a higher than normal white blood cell count, and I'm practically guaranteed to have that now as well, due to this illness. I'm hoping 10 days will be enough for my WBC count to return to normal, or they're going to give me a hard time again & I don't want to fight them about it.
