Not tired again tonight. I've had luck in the past with the breathing method mellowing me out enough to help me sleep, so I tried it tonight, but while it did relax me, it didn't make me sleepy. I got back up after lying in bed for an hour & took one of my workout supplements that's supposed to help with sleep - it should take about 30 minutes to work through my system, so we'll see how it goes.
I think there are three main reasons this is happening now: 1) I'm actually feeling pretty positive about life at the moment, ever since I successfully made it past what I'd fully believed to be my 'expiration date'. 2) I'm working out on the regular again & while it that usually helps most people sleep, I'm pretty excited about this new routine, as it's challenging, but not kicking my ass every time like the last one did (meaning, I feel more energized by it and less exhausted). and 3) it's almost an hour past my scheduled bed time and it's still light out (well, dusk, but that's still pretty light for sleep).
I don't really want to black out my bedroom windows because I like having the sun wake me on the weekends, so I think I'm going to shift my schedule forward an hour, starting this coming Monday. Hopefully, that will better align with my natural circadian rhythm.
P.S. I was just reading an article about circadian rhythm & sleep issues & found this quote:
"If you’ve been dissatisfied with the quality of your sleep for three or more nights a week, for more than three months, you officially suffer from insomnia."
I guess that answers that question. The comment was made to me that I'd been having sleep issues since the new year. I never realized it because all my days tend to blend together, but yeah, I guess I have an issue, & have for years, as this is nothing new to me.
P.P.S. I was curious, so I went to look up our local sunrise/sunset times, and it looks like my plan should work out well...
