I'll tell you something, moving is exhausting when doing it alone. I've been eating a lot more than usual though, and keeping hydrated, but I'm still hitting 'migraine-level' headaches from all the lifting/carrying each day. I haven't even been able to walk in the mornings - it takes about 30 minutes before I can walk without limping, because my calves, thighs are so tight.
I'm making progress though. I got my old motorcycle trailer out today & discovered that the tires still hold air, so I hauled my old bike (sans engine) to the new place. 1st, I had to buy a trailer hitch mount & ball kit ($70), and then, while I was tightening the straps, one broke & the damn thing fell over, almost on me! Fell all the way on its side, but it just bruised my arm a little. Finally got it upright enough to put the kickstand down , then had to go buy new ratchet straps ($35). Didn't want to spend that, but had no choice. At least I'll have them now.
I have very little left to move in the main parts of the house - bed/frame, sectional, record cabinet, tv, and all the kitchen stuff (dishes, canned goods, refrigerator stuff, pots/pans. Oh, and my 70s chair in the attic. I've been setting things in the spare room that I want to try to sell so that once I'm out, I can have a sale one of these weekends. There's not much, but the less I have to move the better.
The two areas that are worrying me right now are the basement and the garage. I already moved the cycle, but the three really heavy things still to go are the cycle engine (which is probably 150 lbs), the old Dodge transmission (which is probably closer to 200 lbs), and the entirety of my weight set/weights (Oh! and my 150 lb sand bag!). The squat rack/bench won't be too big of a deal, but I must have almost 1000 lbs of plates to move, along with the various bars. Oh, and the engine hoist, forgot about that. This is why I'm having such a hard time, I have a lot of heavy stuff! I don't mind it, but it just seems to be taking forever. There are so many stairs! Both places have basements and 2nd floors, and each set of stairs has about 13-14 steps. Each house also has two steps up to get into them.
I was a bit fortunate today, however, that even though it started sprinkling here, it didn't start raining until I was done & back home. It's over now, so I think I'll try to pack the rest of the kitchen, then maybe work on the basement. I still have to move my drum set, and the new Dodge rims/tires. Oh, and the stupid parts rack with all my Dodge trim pieces. Fuck, I just remembered I still have to get that swivel seat out of the basement - it's got to weight a couple hundred lbs too >.< Oh well, at least I'm leaving all the appliances.
I can't decide when I want to move the bed over - it's nice sleeping in a comfortable place, but I should get used to sleeping in the new place before I have to go back to work, otherwise I'm going to have a hell of a time adjusting. Only thing left to call about is my internet. I'll have to see what they can do tomorrow. I think I'm going to need a (read:one!) beer tonight. (Any more than one & I won't be able to move a damn thing tomorrow!)
P.S. I just realized tonight that they took the microwave from the new place. From what I remember, it was supposed to be included. The washer/dryer was too, but my realtor forgot to mention them in his counter-offer, I wonder if he forgot the microwave too? I didn't want to spend that much more money, but I need one. I guess I can put off the fireplace/chimney repair until next year.
