After a bit of frustration on my end, I finally got some answers regarding more specifics on the house purchase - with all of the addendums, I was losing track of things. Looks like the closing will be no later than 8/31 (could be sooner), with possession happening no later than 14 days after close, max. Could be as little as 3 days, but for every day after that, they're paying me the equivalent of my house payment, prorated per day, which works out to around $27/day. Not ideal, but at least I know that I'll be in the house no later than Sept. 15, and possibly much earlier. I think I also understand the max amount I have to bring to closing, so I think I'm ok there too. (It's possible it could close as early as Aug 11th, and they might need no more than 3 days, so you can see it's quite variable.)
Still not sure what to do on the Dodge exhaust. My buddy @ work (not WJC) says his cousin works at a local muffler place & did the exhaust on his high-performance Mustang, and it turned out well, and cheap, too! So I think I'm going to go talk to the guy tonight/tomorrow after work & get some impressions & cost estimates.
(edited to add:) Stopped at the muffler place after work, told the guy what I was looking to do & he said if I brought him the mufflers, he'd to the rest of the exhaust for around $250 give or take. I ordered the mufflers online tonight, got a great deal on them too - $25 less than @ the local parts store per muffler, and free shipping. They cost me a total of $123 (would have been $180 in town), which, added to his estimate, is only $375 for the whole thing, including welding in a "H" pipe. I was looking at $460 for just the pipes online, then buying the mufflers, then labor for having this other shop install them, at a cost of at least $800 total, maybe more. I feel much better about it now! This guy told me to call him when the car is done @ the drive-line shop to coordinate the tow truck dropping it off to him. Once the manager's back from medical leave (probably less than 2 weeks), I should be able to pay them & have it towed.
Oh, I just remembered, I need to buy a bunch of moving blankets, because I want the rear axle & leaf springs returned to me, and probably the stock exhaust pipe, (but I need to ask some online friends). I'll have to haul it in my 4Runner, and I really don't want to mess up the carpet in the back.
