After a frustrating day yesterday (kind of this whole weekend, really) things are going really well today!
1) My rims & tires came in. The guy mounted the wider option on one rim so I could trial-fit it to double-check clearances before doing the mount/balance on the rest. There were a few hiccups, but long story short, it looks like they'll work fine in the back (I'm hopeful the front won't be an issue, but I can't see how it could be). I should be picking these up tonight!
2) I went to the shop that made the custom brake cable for my cycle so many years ago & asked it they could swap out that cup; he said" no problem, can have it today". When I asked him for a rough price, he said "about $10"! I should be picking that up tonight around 6p, then I can install it (I hope it'll fit, anyway)!
3) My disc conversion kit arrived today, so I have the brackets I need for the shop so they can install the rear axle, leaf springs, and make up a drive shaft. I talked to the shop & they said I could have the car towed down tomorrow if I want, so tonight (instead of the run I had scheduled for a workout), I'll be clearing out the garage so I can pull the Dodge through so it's ready for the tow truck tomorrow morning. I'm excited!
4) I also called today & ordered my power brake conversion kit, after confirming that the bolt pattern would work. The bonus part of that is, free shipping! It should be here middle of next week. All I'll need to get for the brakes after this, is the steel lines (which I may have sent out to a shop & pre-bent), and the flex-lines that go to the calipers. That should be everything I need to get it to drive & stop; the only other things to have done will be the exhaust, of which there is one part I need to special order (I just want to find/talk to a shop 1st, to make sure I get the right item), and replacing the gas tank/fuel lines. The tank I have in the basement; the lines will need to be made/ordered.
5) Fortunately, that house I looked at the other day was kind of crappy, because my realtor sent me a listing this afternoon that looked really good. We met to check it out about 3:30p and as it turns out, it's a great place! It appears to be well-maintained, the roof looks good, newer furnace-a/c, newer water heater/softener, a great (yet not too big) kitchen with updated appliances, and a really cool 3-season porch off the back. Also, the garage is big enough to fit everything I need, and the driveway is really wide, which is great for clearance (most houses in this area have narrow driveways like my current place - my vehicle barely fits!).
Cut to the chase, my realtor is drawing up paperwork right now, getting me a pre-approval letter, and we're making an offer tonight. I like this place enough to bid over asking price by almost $6k, in the hopes that nobody outbids me. I think, and my realtor even agreed, that this is the best house we've seen in the entire 2+ years we've been looking (for the price range anyway). It ticks all the boxes, *and* it's in an area I dig - man, I really hope I get this place!
Anyway, here's a link to the listing (link removed), feel free to let me know what you think!
p.s. Regardless of whether I get the house or not, today has been one of the better days I've had in a couplefew years. Lots of things just seemed to fall together; it was really nice, even if it doesn't last. (I do have a good feeling though!) :-)
