Ok, I wrote what I felt and I accept it, but it feels like leaving it as my most recent entry makes it seem like I'm dwelling on it and I'm not.
Had another good workout tonight. Shoulders & back are coming along nicely, deadlifts are up to 295# for low reps, hoping to be at 315# on Friday. Squats are 275#... I wonder - is anyone interested in seeing my routine? I was thinking of posting a typical week (or so) but I don't know if anyone cares. Besides, if you're not familiar with set/rep schemes, it probably won't make much sense anyway!
I bought an old (1960's, I'm guessing?) Sears Silvertone suitcase record player similar to this one, but mine has four control knobs and detachable speakers. It's an old vacuum-tube model, and everything works! I think it needs a new needle, and I know the speakers need to be replaced, as the foam surround has likely dry-rotted, but it's cool as hell! I tried to play an old Monkees album on it, and although it was really scratchy, the highs sounded pretty good. The bass was non-existent, but as I said, pretty sure the speakers are shot. I'm going to get into them this weekend, I think, & see if I can find modern replacement speakers for it. If I can get it to sound better, I may take it in to have it refurbished. Not sure how much that will cost, but I only spend $60 for it, so it's worth investing a little bit of money into it.
Oh, and I also had to rewire the headlight on the cycle on Sunday. I was riding home from the sale on Saturday night, and about 20 minutes out of town, my headlight starts flickering. I reached up to play with the wires, and for a brief second, all of the front lights went dead! Freaked me out because it was dark out. I got it to come back on, but I could feel that one of the wires was really hot. I slowed down & babied the bike home with no further problems. When I went to take the wiring apart the next day, I noticed one of the connections was starting to turn black - when I grabbed the wire, I found out why... there were only two individual strands of wire left that hadn't broken! That was entirely too much power to be going through those two little wires! I grabbed some spare wire & some new connectors, stripped the ends & crimped everything back together again, then wrapped the hell out of it with electrical tape. Seems to be working well now, so that puts me at ease a bit. I'm hoping I can get through the rest of the summer before the next round of expenses hit me. By fall, I'm going to need new tires, new hand grips (finally going to break down & buy heated ones for winter riding!), and possibly a new front brake line (which means having the master cylinder cleaned again) as the front brake is still hanging up a little bit.
I'm also going to buy a new rack system for the basement this week, I think - similar to this, but buying as component pieces so I can build different sizes. I've got a plan for emptying out the garage that might make it more usable, but i need a place to put all of that crap (the stuff I can't sell, anyway). If I do it right, I may even be able to park in the garage this winter!!! (doubtful, but I can hope!)
Ok, I'm beat. Off to bed.
