Had chance to hang out with Meg_D & her b/f a couple nights ago. Meg rode with me, he came out a bit later. A couple of Meg's friends joined us as well. We just sat around & bullshitted for about an hour at Lou's, then most of us went to another place, and b/f went home, as he'd been out with his cousin for a while previously and was already a bit drunk. We caught a band from LA called Andy Frasco & the U.N.. They were a really good, tight, high-energy band, and I wish they'd play around here more, as I'd like to see them a bit more often. They're supposed to be back later this fall, so hopefully I can catch them then.
Anyway, the reason I brought up Meg was that I'd invited her out to ride with me since it was perfect riding weather. Although she didn't bail on me like last time, she did put it off until after dark, & then just wanted to go out to have a couple drinks. Well, I went (and had three myself), as I haven't had a chance to hang with her for a while, but we didn't really get to talk much, especially since she had so many friends around, as well as the fans who constantly caught her to catch up/say hi. Anyway, I mentioned that I wouldn't be coming out much for a while due to the upcoming trip, so at least I got that out of the way. There are two shows I want to attend before I leave, and I'm going to do my best to not drink at them. That was one good thing that came out of this night - I felt almost obligated to have a drink or two while we were out, and I didn't like that. Makes me much less likely to even want to go out now. I haven't even bought beer for the house recently.
I bought a music player yesterday too, and spent the evening setting it up & loading a "running" playlist on it. I'm going to start my running tonight when it gets dark (yes, I'm embarrassed to run during the day, shut up!) ;-) I bought new inner tubes for my old mountain bike a while back as well, and took my rims off so I could change them out, then realized I don't own a tire pump. I went out looking for one, thinking maybe I'll get a small air compressor instead. They're a lot more expensive than I thought, and bigger too. I don't have room in my garage for many of them, and all the small ones were kind of a joke when it came to running anything, or inflating anything larger than a bike tire. I couldn't see spending $100-200 on something like that, so I thought I'd just look around for a basic T-handled tire pump. I went to three freakin' stores & couldn't find one! The cheapest thing I could find that didn't look like it'd break after the first use was a $50 electric one, and I couldn't see spending that much for something that wouldn't do much more than a manual pump, so I went home in defeat. I'll try again tonight, because I'd like to be able to ride my mountain bike as well, so I'm not just running/jogging all the time.
Because I'm somewhat shit for cooking healthy, I think I'm going to start looking for vegetarian meals to cook, then adding meat to them. The way I figure it, if a meal is tasty enough to eat with just veggies, it should be even better with meat added! Regardless, I'm going to the store tonight to buy ingredients for chili, and a 10 bean soup I like to put over rice. I also like mixing taco meat, rice, and shredded cheese together, but as you can tell, they're pretty low on the veggie front. I need to buy everything, (herbs/seasonings included) so if you have a favourite recipe you'd like to share (complete with cooking instructions, please!) I'd love to give it a try. Stepfie, I would have sent you a list of what's in my kitchen, but there's not much you can do with a can of kidney beans, almonds, triscuits, sea salt, turbinado sugar, skim milk and string cheese! >.<
