"Hard Turth -
Nobody is actually too busy to respond to you.
That guy or girl isn’t too busy to answer your text. That employer isn’t too busy to answer your email. If you’re not hearing back from someone, it’s because they have deliberately chosen not to answer you. And the sooner you stop making excuses for the people who don’t make you a priority, the sooner you can move on to the people and situations that do."
I read the above excerpt at some point today, and it really stuck with me. I realized that I hadn't heard from *anyone* since November, which was the last time I'd texted Viv, GRJ, and CC, and I hadn't heard from any of the 'Well Crew' since I stopped drinking back in September. I went through my phone contacts to try to remember when last I'd talked to them, and absolutely none of them had been in contact within the last several months. Included in those were old bandmates, musicians I've known from the music scene, a bunch of 'bar friends' like Jen, and also Viv, GRJ, and CC, all of whom I texted in mid-November, but who never bothered to reply. So, I finally deleted them from my phone.
If I really, really needed to, I could probably find most of them on facespace, but honestly, I'm over it; I'm over trying. I'd much rather know I was friendless, than constantly wonder what it is about me that sucks, or whether I've done something wrong to make them avoid me, or, or, or... It may be true that people need other people, but nobody needs people like that.
Now, to make peace with solitude... *sigh*
