I bought liquid chlorine for the cold tub the other day, then treated it & tested after a couple hours. It seems I put a bit too much in, but it wasn't overly high, just a bit out of range. Normally, sunlight will help to break chlorine down, but as my tub is on my porch, it doesn't really get direct sunlight. I waited two days to see if the levels would drop, but they didn't, so i decided to try it out anyway. Another thing that reduces chlorine is simply being used by people - one of the reasons to use it is to prevent bacterial/other growth from the germs on our body that get left behind, Normally, you should take a shower before getting in, but I decided to skip it, with the thought that any sweat/etc from my body would help to reduce the levels.
I did another dip last night, but changed my method; this time, no hot shower beforehand, and no exercise to heat up my core. Temps still just under 50°F, and I stayed in for 2 minutes again. The outside air was in the low 30s, I think? so again, I stood outside in the breeze for a bit to help me dry off. This time, I even took my sliders off & took about 20 paces through my yard barefoot in the snow. Turns out, snow is *much* colder than the tub, and my feet did end up aching a bit, but I felt pretty good overall. I did take a hot shower afterwards to warm myself back up (at a friend's suggestion), and that seems to have worked well. Did some stretches for my spine on the floor before bed too, which also helped.
I noticed last night on my app that my deep sleep number was really good, even though I had less sleep than previous days, and for the 1st time since my recent issue, my back actually felt good all night! Now that I'm up again though, it's starting to bug me a bit, but I awoke feeling fairly positive. I'm definitely going to get to that workout today that I've been putting off, and will try to get in the tub as well. I'm going to start dropping the temp one degree a week; I think this will get me down to 40°F by March? From what I've read, the big adrenaline kick doesn't really happen until the temps get a bit lower (although I'm feeling the benefits even at 50). Anyway, we'll see how it goes.
As an aside, I've written to several more women on various sites, but have gotten only one reply, which has since gone quiet. I think it's time again to give it a rest.
