Recovery from the root canal is progressing, but not as well as I'd hoped. Thursday's overnight ring readings were similar to those when I've done a run or a weight workout, which means the root canal was similar to those events, as relates to stress on the body. As such, I ended up skipping my Thursday & Friday workouts. It's really frustrating to have designed & committed to a plan, but then to have bailed on it immediately, but I hadn't taken the dental work into account, so I guess I need to allow myself some flexibility. Anyway, today's plan was for 'strongman-style' events, and although I'm still having some minor issues, I'm going to give it a go this afternoon.
As I've mentioned, I've been watching the St0ltman brothers' videos, and it's been interesting to see them document their progress & challenges, and how they felt each time, etc. I'm not a video guy, but I've been thinking I might try something similar, if I can get into a routine; I'm already logging my info in Excel, but maybe I can do a quick summary of each session & how it went, how I felt, challenges, etc, like they do. I've still got three weeks to get into a rhythm, so if I can keep it up, maybe I'll do so & post it here? It occurred to me that I do have a u-tube account, so if I wanted, I could even post workout vids (if I get good enough to not be embarrassed by my 'wimpyness'!). I'll not commit to that, but I'll keep it in mind.
I ordered an aquarium heater & circulation pump/filter online, and they will be here mid-week; my buddy Justin said he'd help me pick up the 100 gal. stock tank on Monday or Tuesday, so I may be able to start trying out the cold water baths soon. I hope I actually like & continue it, otherwise it'll have been a waste of money, although much less than building a chest freezer plunge pool & not liking it.
edit to add: Finished my workout this afternoon, and it went really well. Dumbbell complex to warm up, log press, 'safe/yoke' press, and grip work. I pressed more on the safe press, than when I was regularly lifting, so I'm guessing that means I was over-trained/under-recovered in the past. Also, my tooth didn't hurt, though I have been taking ibuprofen, which was recommended by the oral surgeon. Back out for a run on Monday, hopefully, and then back on *my* schedule (not the C25K). I think I'll stick with the 7m run, 2m walk X 3 until it feels really easy, then step it up (as long as I'm recovering well).
p.s. I saw the name wovoka on the user list just now & it always reminds me of this video. I love this group!
