Considering how long I've been paying attention to, and trying to address my postural issues (as relates to my back issues), I'm amazed I'm never noticed this before...
I sit all day at work. I have a standing desk unit that allows me to stand if I want, but standing always makes my back and/or hip hurt after only a short while, so I remain seated & try to focus on sitting up straight, with my back fully supported. Well, for some odd reason, I noticed yesterday, that when I try to sit naturally, my hips/'sit-bones' are crooked in the chair when I'm directly facing my work station. Like, 10-15° off.
Starting yesterday, I began intentionally forcing my right hip back into the chair, almost wedging it in place. It felt really awkward, and slightly uncomfortable, but I noticed when I got up later, that walking felt better. Of course, trying to shift your spinal alignment is never an easy thing, and my back started getting more tender/guarded, but walking felt pretty good for the rest of the day. I did the same again today, all day long, and eventually got to the point where I didn't feel I needed the tennis ball. My spine is still tender, but I feel like things might finally start realigning/'falling back into place', as it were.
I'm kind of excited about this. I hope it's actually a solution and not just another placebo/dead-end.
