After some comments I got, I realized that I wasn't very clear about the issues I last wrote about, so I wanted to clarify things a bit...
While the neck/nerve issue is caused somewhat by my weight training, it's something that I've been dealing with for decades, and probably always will, to an extent. I have some deterioration in vertebrae C4 through C6, and that has narrowed the 'gap' through which my nerves pass to the rest of my body. It was better when I was regularly visiting a chiropractor, which is why I'm starting to go again a week from Monday. I'll probably have to cope with it all my life, unless I find a way to miraculously decalcify the outside edges of those vertebrae and also 'pump up' the discs at the same time.
The misalignment that caused my breathing difficulties was entirely caused by me being a bit inattentive/careless. For the last several years (5 or more?) I've been doing a variation of deep tissue massage along my spine with a tennis ball, while sitting at work. A majority of the time, it actually loosens the 'guarding' my spine always does, and helps to correct my many misalignments. It's not perfect, but it's a viable option, and my old chiropractor approved it when I described it to him.
On rare occasions, I get the ball in the wrong location, likely in opposition to where it actually needs to be (left or right side), and that can accentuate the misalignment and make it worse. It's happened many times before, and likely will continue, unless my current muscle-maintaining weight loss journey improves my overall posture (along with the chiropractic care and massage I'll be starting).
To be honest, aside from those 3-4 hours, I've been feeling really good, physically, and right now, having just got in from a workout & having finished my shower with 1 minute of *cold* water, I feel really good! I still have a twinge in the left-side shoulder/arm nerve, but it's been improving. I believe I've figured out something important last week... one of the things that's causing my neck issues is the way I've been doing my deadlifts.
Years ago when I started, I was doing it with a narrow stance like the guy at this time-stamp. When i started working out with the strongman guys, I changed it up, and went with a wider stance and grip, like this guy. What I realized last week was that the wider grip was causing the barbell to pull my shoulders apart, whereas the narrow grip puts all the force downward. This outward force was probably pulling my misalignments even further out. Since I went back to the narrow stance last week, I feel a lot fresher after deads than I used to, by a noticeable margin.
Overall, things are improving, and even though I'm not losing a lot of weight, I'm seeing marked improvement in my physique, after less than a month. I'm starting to get a handle on my new 'diet' / schedule as well, so things are smoothing out. I had to give up Intermittent Fasting though, as I was having difficulty eating enough in that shortened time frame, so rather than eating only within an 8-9 hour time frame, It's now 11 hours, and it's feeling much better. Anyway, Overall, things are going well, so no need to be concerned! (Thank you, though!) :-)
