Temps got up to 52°F yesterday. I got a call to come to the shop and check out the heated grips, now that they'd changed the wiring to go directly to the battery. Apparently, there's an issue with the wiring harness on the bike, because now the grips are heating up as expected. I asked the mechanic to run the wire to the switched power post on the ignition so that I wouldn't accidentally leave the grips turned on & drain the battery (as there's no 'on' light), and he said that it would likely be done by tomorrow (which is now today).
Last night we had a weather front come through, the wind so strong it woke me, and I half-expected to have a large branch (or a whole tree!) fall & hit the house, but fortunately, that didn't happen. What *did* happen though, is that we got just enough snow & cold to cover the roads, which means that, unless the sun comes out today, I won't be able to get the cycle home due to the icy roads. The entire month of December (and the last week of November, when I dropped it off) were clear; a couplefew days of rain, but decent temps and no snow, so this timing sucks. The shop closes early today and is closed tomorrow, but open again on the 26th, so maybe I'll be able to get it home soon? I hope so, haven't been able to ride for a month.
Anyway, this is the 4th or 5th time I've tried to get heated grips installed on this bike in the last decade or so, and now it's finally worked out, so I'm pretty pleased with that. Can't wait to try it out & see how much it improves my winter riding experience!
