So, after I got the 2nd sump pump in and running, I decided to go ahead and take my weekend trip anyway - it's not like my standing around watching the pumps run would help in any way... Made it to my sis's place Sat. evening & hung out for a bit, then called a friend to see what was going on. She was just finishing up her band practice, and then they were going to head out to a local bar to hang out. I didn't find out until I got there, that we were there to see a band, and it was a band I'd heard but not seen before. Thye were really good, for a country-style band. They did some pretty good rock& roll covers, too, but with a country flair to them, which was interesting.
It was good to see her again, as it had been a couple years since last we hung out. I'd been out that way several times, but things always came up & we couldn't get together before. It was a little awkward for me, because I've had a small crush on her for a while, but I don't really know here well enough to talk with. So, rather than try to force the issue, I just played it cool & watched the band mostly, leaning over on occasion to make some small comment, or ask a random question. One time I turned & caught her looking at me - she had just looked down when I turned, but she had this little smile on her face, so I just asked her what that was about. She looked up & said "So are you ever going to tell me how old you are!?" I just started laughing, because I'd forgotten that she didn't know! And no, I never did tell her!
She took off a bit early from the bar, I stayed & finished my beer & took off myself. We'd made plans to get together the next day to go for a ride. She told me that she had a lesson to go to that afternoon, but that she'd cancel it. I told her not to bother, since it was only an hour & we could meet afterward. Just before she left she sent a text canceling it, though, which kind of implied to me that she was excited/looking forward to riding with me. Made me feel pretty good, and also made me wonder if she might sort of "like" me a bit more than just hanging-out-friends. I'm terrible at reading these things though, so I just wrote it off as excitement to be on a bike. I did get a couple really good hugs that night, though, when I showed up & when she left, that were a bit more than the hugs I got when last she visited & I was still with the ex. So, mark one more up in my favor, I guess!?
Anyway, her place was over 45 min. away from where I was staying, so I headed out early in the afternoon - didn't have any trouble finding it, which was cool, but I took the back way, apparently, because I ended up on a few dirt roads. I haven't been on dirt in years, and it was kinda fun, but kind of a pain, too. When I got there, she was hanging out around the little pond behind their house, so we walked around that for a bit. I got to meet her brother, & after a bit, we headed out.
I actually don't know where we rode - we rode to hell and back though (literally, and I have the "exit visa" to prove it, too!). We were gone most of the day, and had beautiful weather; mostly sunny, temps in the 70's, not too much wind, almost a perfect day for riding! I can't remember how many times I saw her in my mirrors sticking her arms out to the sides like she was flying - it was cute, really made me smile! I remember that feeling of freedom & just letting go of everything when you're riding, it's very liberating, in a certain way.
After stopping off for a couple beers & something to eat, we headed back.
I'm going to stop here, since I'm at work, and pick up the rest later tonight, hopefully after my workout.
