Had one of my better workouts last night, as far as weightlifting goes, and for some reason, I decided last night that I was going to run for distance instead of time after my lifting session. I set what I thought was a pretty easy pace, and ended up running 3.7 miles in under 40 minutes - 39:22, actually. That's the first time since high school that I've run more than three miles, and it was even 0.5 miles more than the 5k race I'm going to do in a few weeks, so I was pretty geeked!Wasn't as hard as I expected, either - hopefully, that will still apply when I get to the 5K!
The car I've been wanting to sell is having some problems, and although they're minor, I'm thinking I should get them fixed. For one, the "check engine" light comes on occasionally, and it runs a little rougher than usual - no idea what it could be, so I will likely take it in & have it checked out. The other, more "important" problem (from a selling standpoint) is that the a/c will sometimes give me a red light when I turn it on (There's a push-button on the dash, so you can leave it off if you want). The reason this is so important, is that the a/c is one of my strong selling points, as I've spent several hundred dollars getting it fixed, and if it's not functioning properly, it invalidates the "ice-cold a/c" selling point! I really hope these things don't cost too much. I think the engine light is likely an oxygen sensor, and the a/c, I'm hoping, is just a "pressure too high" issue, because as I said, it does work sometimes. I'm going to clean the car out this weekend, and likely take it in then. By next week, I should have the "for sale" sign in it, and then I can start getting the other one ready.
I'm learning 5-6 new songs with the band now, and I think I have a pretty good grasp of 2-3 of them already. They said that they want to play a show by sometime in July, which means I have a lot of songs to learn, because I think we need 30-35 songs for a full set - I currently know 10 very well, 2-3 fairly well, and 2-3 sort-of-ok. That's still a lot of songs to learn, in a month!? I hope I can do it. It would be really cool to play a show, but I don't want to be a tool and fuck them up because I tried to play out too early (before I knew all the songs well enough).
I'm also going to finish getting the house "company-ready", so I can get some estimates on a few big-ticket items I need for the house. I would call now, but I'd be a bit embarrassed to have anyone inside at this point. It's not horrifically dirty, persay, just terribly cluttered and disorganized. I'm actually looking forward to getting the house in shape, and I don't even mind the fact that I'm going to have to spend thousands of dollars doing so. I've been saving up for a bit, and I have the cash to do it, with some to spare, so I'm not too concerned (and that doesn't even count the money from the two cars I'm going to sell, nor the overtime/mileage pay I've been getting from work the last few weeks). It's really nice to be able to do things without stressing out over how far in debt they might put me! I've had my credit cards paid off for a couple years, and the only outstanding loan I have is the mortgage - all my other expenses are daily/monthly, like groceries, fuel, utilities, etc.
The only problem I have, is that I just can't seem to bring myself to "waste" money on going anywhere for a vacation yet. I have so many things that need to be done around here, that I simply can't justify "throwing away" several hundred (or more) dollars on a trip, even if it might be a good thing for me, mentally... just. can't. do it...
Oh, yeah - I just heard back from the cycle shop, and I'm going to have to buy a new set of exhaust for the bike. Including installation, it will likely run about $500. I've been expecting this for a while, though, so it doesn't hurt as much as I thought it would. At least I'll have my bike back, so I can get back to riding!!
Ok, gotta run - work calls!
