So I'm getting nervous about the "audition" tonight - not really about the singing (although I'm a bit concerned that the timbre of my voice won't mesh well with theirs) but moreso about my guitar playing. I haven't really played my guitar in months, before contacting them, and only 3-4 times since then. I did learn a new song, however - one of theirs, but although I know it, I'm not proficient with it yet, and that's the part that's got me worried. I can play songs well enough for me, and well enough that people can recognize them, but not so much so that I feel I can keep up with a band.
Also, last night I met the gal that's playing with my band - she seems nice enough, and is pretty good, but she seems (and looks) a bit odd. I realize that's kind of mean to say, but it's true - I get a really odd vibe from her, too - not necessarily bad, but odd. Maybe it was a reactionary thing, since I was there to listen & she may have felt a little... threatened? I don't know. Anyway, I guess it's not important. After practicing with the guitar a bit last night, I spent about an hour on bass, fine-tuning a few songs that I know fairly well, but want to do in a little more of an "advanced" way. It went pretty well, overall, aside from the fact that my mp3 player was dead & I had to go from memory.
Oh, yeah - I caught a mouse last night! (Yes, me - not my stupid cat!!) I'm playing guitar in front of my computer in the kitchen (wireless laptop) and in between songs, I hear this scratching/chewing sound. I stopped to look for it twice, but each time I got to the area, it would quit. The third time, I snuck over & discovered it was coming from the pantry. I really quickly opened the door & I saw this little mouse face poking out of the side of the cat food bag! I wasn't sure what he was going to do, so I just got my hand close - he decided to make a break for it & climbed out the hole to scurry down the side of the bag, but I was too fast for him! As soon as he was out, I grabbed him by the tail & picked him up! It was a juvenile, because it was pretty small, and it had been chewing at the edges of the bag, trying to build a nest inside the food bag! I carried him over to my cat & held him up so the cat could sniff it/check it out, then, not knowing what to do with the stupid little bastard, I put him in an old aquarium-type cage I had laying around. So now I have a pet mouse. After putting some water & food in for him, I went back & placed a mouse bait pack in the pantry to see if there are any more in that area. I'll check it when I get home - I hope some have eaten it already, because then I'll know I should put out more of them. Now I need to go around the outside of the house & plug up any entry holes they might have, to prevent any more from getting in.
Does it strike anyone as odd, that I fed & watered this little guy, but then put out poison bait for all the others in the house!? Talk about dichotomic! I'm so weird...
