Just got back from my root canal - the specialist had an opening & moved me up by a week. This experience was completely different than my 1st one, for which I'm grateful. Nitrous gas (extra $50, ugh), and only two novocaine shots were enough to get through a three-pronged root canal, and I had no pain (beyond that from holding my jaw oepn for extended periods). Stopped by my dentist's office on the way home & scheduled the final crown placement for Monday, so this ordeal should be over within a few days of that (I'm expecting some pain/sensitivity for a bit). So far, it's cost my about $570 out-of-pocket, but I won't know for sure until insurance pays the specialist & I see if they didn't cover something.
When I got home today, the chimney guys were out to (finally) apply the brick/mortar waterproofing that they were supposed to have done when they finished the construction. This means I now have to pay for the external portion of the chimney rebuild, which is good because the money has been sitting in my account & I want it gone so I can know how much money I actually have. This portion's bill is $10,700, and the chimney liner will be around $7700, I think, but they won't be getting to that until January. Unfortunately, I won't be on vacation then, which means that for two days, two guys will have the run of my house while I'm at work. That really bothers me, but the only other option I have is to take two days off work, which I don't want to/shouldn't have to do. I really hope they wear their masks the entire time they're inside. The last thing I need is one of them coughing/sneezing on something and making me sick indirectly.
On another topic, I was watching Rh0nda Patr1ck on U-tube recently and think I may have found a solution for (or at least, help with) my digestive issues. Between the many rounds of antibiotics I had as a child (and several in my adult years), and my poor adult diet (lots of added sugars, lots of alcohol, etc), I believe my gut microbiome is likely compromised and could use some help.I've already tried an off-the-shelf Tumeric/probiotic combination which has helped somewhat, but I learned from her videos that most shelved probiotics are worthless, as the only ones that tend to remain viable are ones that are freeze-dried & kept cold/refrigerated. Most everything out on shelves are 1) inviable, and 2) contain nowhere near a large enough quantity of bacteria to make a difference. She'd recommended one called VSL3, but in researching it, it seems that they lost a lawsuit to the original company who 1st made the product, which is now called Visbi0me, which is the one I'll be trying, hopefully soon.
I also watched a few videos on fasting, which I may decide to do once or twice a year, just to have the experience and see if it feels beneficial or not. I'm considering a 48 hr water/black coffee/tea-only fast if I decide to do it, but we'll see. I feel like I need to research that a bit more.
I'm supposed to run today, but as my hamstrings are still pretty sore (and I just had a freakin' root canal), I think I'm going to take it easy one more day. Maybe I'll go for a walk later, but only if I'm up for it.
Hope all's well with everyone!
