I went to work this morning at 5:30a (normal time), then left to vote. Got to the polling place 15 minutes before they opened, and there were already 40-50 people in line. Fortunately, it's the polling place fro two precincts, so many of them got split into two lines. Once the doors opened at 7a, it didn't take long to get my vote in, then head back to work.
I voted a straight-party democrat ticket because I'm not well-educated on all of the subordinate positions. I'm also feeling a bit stupid for not realizing that we were also voting for our state supreme court (among other positions) and since I hadn't researched one bit about them (and the ballot didn't indicate party affiliation for anyone, just names) I decided to leave them blank. I didn't want to accidentally help vote in an asshole! I really need to do my due diligence next election though. I feel a bit guilty about not being able to support all of the people I want to.
Ok, new topic; after having snow on Sunday, it was back up to 65°F this afternoon, so I went out for another cycle ride. There won't be many nice days left, so I want to get those last rides in when I can. I also bought a used gps unit from a guy on my discussion board. Looks to be really nice, but I won't be able to have it installed this season. I'm looking forward to trying it out next spring though. It was inexpensive too, as it's a few years old & the guy didn't use it anymore.
Oh, also, not sure why, but as it's a new month, I started running again. Haven't run in 2.5 months, and haven't lifted in over a week, I think? Anyway, my weight has been consistently down around #215 for several months (since ditching wheat products), and so I'm thinking now might be a good time to focus on losing more weight.I've only been below 200 lbs once in my adult life, and that was probably for less than 1-2 months, several years ago. I know I can rebuild muscle any time, but it'll be easier to lose weight before trying that. Anyway, I'm aiming to run a lot, but we'll see how it goes. I'm hesitant to set any goals for fear of negatively influencing myself. I'll just do what I can, what I feel up to, and accept that as my limit, and try to do more when I can.
...and new my brokerage account is still in the red. I'm still down 3% overall since I started. On one hand, sucks to "lose" money ("paper" loss only). On the other, I've been able to buy a lot more of the stocks/index funds I'm in, for a steep discount, which lowers my overall average cost, which will really help when the market rebounds after the election is finally decided.
