It seems I'm in money-spending mode at the moment. I'm trying not to beat myself up about this; I've made myself go without a lot of things for many years, only buying them when absolutely necessary, which makes allowing myself to buy things I actually want seems 'wrong' at this point.
Still, none of them have been impulse buys. I didn't buy the Japanese course until I'd already proven to myself I was motivated to learn it (by completing almost half of the entire Duolingo free course). I bought the full Wim Hof course (at 50% off!) after having done the free portion for the better part of a year. The new guitar I bought, I'd been considering for the last several years but just couldn't pull the trigger. Hell, even the new motorcycle took me a decade to finally commit to buying!
So in the last week or two, I've bought a wall-mounted, plug-in towel warmer, a new two-way auto-drip coffee maker, and two sandbags for strength training (the latter two just purchased this morning).
The towel warmer was bought because with the way the bathroom door opens, the towel rack is right up against the shower curtain, which means the towels don't dry well & end up with a bit of a mildew smell if I shower too frequently. Also, I want to try to get back into taking cold showers, and doing so requires taking them daily, meaning the towels would never have time to dry properly. Also, this was the least pricey unit I could find, by half, so I feel alright about it.
Last night, I tried to make a single-serving cup of coffee with the new decaf beans I bought last week, but after filling it up & running it, absolutely no water came through, so it turns out that side of my current unit is dead. I used to use that option quite a bit, so it's useful to me. The new machine I bought is the same brand, a newer model, but incompatible with k-cups (which I refuse to use), so it's actually 40% cheaper than the model I have currently. I also got free shipping on it, so I'm calling it a win!
The sandbags I bought are something that I've been wanting to buy for years, ever since I started training with the strongman crew. Grizz had a couple at the 'compound', and I thought it was fun/challenging, as well as being a good all-around workout. His bags were loaded to 150lbs and 300lbs, and I plan to load mine to 150 and 250, as I was never able to pick up the 300 higher than a few inches. Here are the bags, in case you're wondering, and here's how you use them. Oh, I also got free shipping on these as well, which eases my guilt a bit.
I plan on making one more purchase in the next few days, and while it's technically a splurge for me, it's also a valid health monitoring purchase. I'm really big on data collection and spreadsheets for tracking things, so I'm buying an Oura ring to track my daily vital signs, and my sleep patterns. I feel like I've had poor sleep patterns my entire adult life, but the one time I tried to track it a few years ago, I created more of an issue. I decided to write down what time I woke up during the night, as it used to happen frequently. What ended up happening though, was that I trained myself to sleep more lightly and wake up more often. Anyway, I'm very interested to see what my current sleep patterns are, and whether or not they're as poor as I believe.
