I think I forgot to mention that last week, I had the wheels taken off my new cycle, and had everything removed (tires, brake rotors, bearings, etc) so I could take them to the powdercoater's last Saturday.
Got them back on Friday & will be going down to the shop to apply some rubberized undercoating to the inside of the fenders as a rust preventative (the fenders, as they come from the factory, are notorious for rusting when they get wet - they are replaceable under warranty if that happens though). Once I get that applied, the shop will reinstall the wheels & I can get some pictures, although I have no way of sharing them with you. You'll just have to trust me that they';re going to look bad-ass!
Had a good night Friday (my b-day; I'd written about it & then deleted it, as I'm wont to do), and had a really good 'strongman' training day on Saturday. It was right about freezing outside, but I had the garage door open the whole time & it felt great!
Was going to go running tonight, but while loading laundry, I noticed a slow drip in the middle of my main inlet water line. Put my finger up there to check it out (because, how does a hole start in the middle of a pipe!?). There was a little piece of rust & I rubbed it a couple times, which ended up being the wrong thing to do, as that piece was the only thing preventing it from spraying all over!
Had to shut off the main water valve, then open the cold water tap on the faucet to release the pressure because it kept spraying, even when shut off. Came upstairs & researched online & found they make this cool 'pipe repair' kit that's basically a resin-impregnated fiber tape that hardens when exposed to any form of moisture (water, or even the moisture in the air!). Soak it 5 seconds, tightly wrap the pipe to 2 inches beyond each side of the damage, then wrap the supplied vinyl strip around that to squeeze the remaining resin into the tape. Wait 15 minutes. Take off the vinyl strip, and you're done! Seems to be holding up pretty well so far.
Tonight as I was making meals for the week, I found another leak - the spray handle on my sink has had a slow leak, like a seal is wearing out, for a week or two. Well, tonight, it too, decides it's going to start spraying everywhere! I managed to take the handle apart & I think I can just replace the seal, but if not, I'm not sure what I'll end up doing. Fortunately, it doesn't leak at all when the center faucet's not on.
...
Wow, I'm sure you're fascinated by that, aren't you? *rollseyes* This is one reason I haven't felt like writing much anymore.
